Gas jumps despite lower demand
Thursday, May 15, 2008
The Chicago Tribune -- Gas prices roared above $3.75 a gallon Wednesday, while oil prices fell after an Energy Department report gave a mixed picture of the nation's petroleum reserves.

At the pump, the average national price of a gallon of regular gas rose 2.6 cents, to a record $3.758 a gallon, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. Gas prices are 67 cents higher than a year ago and are expected to continue rising at least until the Memorial Day weekend.

Many analysts expect prices to reach $4 a gallon on a national basis in coming weeks.

Everyone can now get an extra job just to be able to afford gas and get a third job to pay for your heating fuel this winter, these big companies just love everybody, shell out your money people

Demand is down. Now they will shut down some of the refineries and that will allow them to continue to raise the price.

Can't they take the hint? Less demand should bring the prices down, not continue to set records every day.

I think the reason they don't , and won't lower the prices even though the demand dropped is because they like that profit, and they figure they'll get to make that profit even with lower demand. Probably they'll lay-off some workers, and still end up with the same profit.

As long as we have a TV Show called "Are you smarter than a fifth grader?" and a President who isn't, and his Oil Buddy DickieBoy calling the shots, we are screwed, the US Dollar is screwed. The TRILLION DOLLARS dumped into Iraq has blown up the economy, and "W" still won't say the economy is in a recession! At least a couple of the candidates running this time have an IQ above room temperature...

Oil hit another record high last night, over $127/barrel. So it looks like it's going back up again! Gas hit another record high as well, I think they said its ninth in a row.

The issue is that oil demand is increasing globally, and we need to show our leadership with conservation and new ideas.

-----------------------------------
Walmart shoppers are a major force DRIVING UP UP Crude prices !!
-----------------------------------
Trade deficits lower the value of the dollar and raises the cost of gas
-----------------------------------
Walmart alone creates a trade deficit that approaches the oil trade deficit.

We should manufacture most goods here in the USA.
This would also reduce the fuel wasted in extra transportation cost.
-----------------------------------
Another form of destroy USA.
We can be our own worse enemy, our own personal GREED.
-----------------------------------
The Walmart effect is a major reason why we are in this fuel crunch.
Send our jobs and money to china make them rich and up the demand for fuel.
-----------------------------------
We reduce our demand but china and india increase at a far greater rate.
-----------------------------------
Anyone that buys walmart JUNK and thinks it is the same quality needs to do more thinking.
-----------------------------------
They have also driven DOWN the Quality of almost all products in the name of profits.
